Gombe (Nigeria) – Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Gombe State northeast of the country has so far registered 46,798 voters since the continued exercise began in April 2017.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner Umar Ibrahim disclosed this on Monday at a stakeholders meeting in Gombe  to review the activities of INEC on the voters registration in the state .

Ibrahim said in order to continue with the registration, Independent National Electoral Commission has approved additional 13 centres across the state aimed at reducing difficulties faced by voters during registration.

He explained that 10 centres were approved by the National Headquarters while three were created at the state level bringing the total number to13 .

According to him, continue voter registration exercise in some areas is facing a challenge as some voters could not register due to bad terrain and distance to the registration centres

“I call on voters not to hesitate to collect their Permanent Voters Cards at the commission because we have hundreds of thousands permanent voter cards outstanding which were not collected”, he said
