ECWA Rejects Claims Of Court-Ordered Dissolution Of Kano District Church Council

By Sunday Elijah,

The Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) has denied reports suggesting that a Kano High Court dissolved its Kano Central District Church Council (DCC) and ordered the arrest of its executives, insisting that the church leadership remains legally in office while the dispute is still before the courts.

The denial follows the circulation of social media posts claiming that the court had nullified the district council’s leadership. ECWA’s Legal Adviser, Barrister Yakubu Saleh Bawa, described the reports as a deliberate attempt to mislead the public and misrepresent the court’s proceedings.

According to Bawa, the narratives being shared online do not accurately reflect the legal position of the case and were based on an order allegedly obtained after the court was presented with incomplete information.

“The Honourable Court was misled into making an order concerning the Kano Central Executive due to serious concealment of material facts,” Bawa said, alleging that the application before the court was founded on a “fraudulent misrepresentation of facts.”

He maintained that no valid court order has been violated by ECWA or the Kano Central DCC and dismissed suggestions that the current executives had been removed from office.

“Till this moment, ECWA has never disobeyed or disregarded any valid court order. All officials of the Kano Central DCC remain intact and have never been removed from office,” he stated.

Bawa disclosed that the church’s legal team has requested the certified true copy of the ruling and will determine its next legal steps after studying the decision.

He said the matter should be resolved through the courts rather than through public commentary, stressing that his team would continue to observe professional ethics while the case remains pending.

“We do not discuss matters that are already pending before a competent court on social media. We shall present the true and complete facts before the same court at the appropriate time,” he said.

The legal adviser also accused counsel representing the plaintiffs of pursuing publicity instead of allowing the judicial process to run its course, arguing that the information being circulated online presented only one side of the dispute.

He urged ECWA members and the public to exercise restraint and avoid drawing conclusions based on social media reports until the court reaches a final determination.

“We urge everyone, especially those sharing unverified information online, to fear God and refrain from spreading falsehood. The integrity of the judicial process must be respected, and truth must prevail over sensationalism and misinformation,” Bawa added.

The dispute over the leadership of the ECWA Kano Central DCC remains before the Kano High Court, with the substantive suit yet to be determined. At the time of this report, counsel to the plaintiffs had not publicly responded to the latest statement issued by the church’s legal team.
