The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FRCN Headquarters Chapel, says it has received with deep shock and profound sadness the news of the demise of veteran journalist par excellence, Mr. Femi Bobade.
A statement by the Chairman of the Chapel, Comrade Daniel Adejo described the late Femi Bobade as a dedicated and highly respected journalist who served passionately and diligently at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN). Through hard work, professionalism, and commitment to duty, he rose through the ranks and retired meritoriously as Manager, News.
During his years of service, he distinguished himself as an outstanding broadcaster, editor, and mentor whose contributions greatly impacted journalism practice within and outside the Corporation. Many journalists who worked under him described him as a rare professional, a disciplined newsroom administrator, and a mentor who painstakingly groomed younger colleagues on the ethics and principles of journalism.
He was known for his thoroughness on the job, exceptional editing skills, calm disposition, and deep passion for excellence in news gathering and reporting. His remarkable dedication to accuracy, balance, and professionalism earned him admiration among colleagues and respect across the media industry.
As an award-winning journalist and editor, Femi Bobade covered several strategic beats, including the Presidential Villa, where he demonstrated uncommon competence, courage, and professionalism in the discharge of his duties. His reports and editorial contributions enriched public discourse and strengthened the credibility of broadcast journalism in Nigeria.
Even in retirement, the late veteran journalist maintained close contact with colleagues and remained deeply interested in the growth of journalism and the progress of FRCN. He consistently encouraged younger professionals to uphold the core values of integrity, objectivity, and excellence in the media profession.
According to the statement, the death is a great loss not only to the NUJ FRCN Headquarters Chapel and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, but also to the entire Nigerian media industry. He will be greatly missed by colleagues, friends, associates, and all those privileged to have worked with and known him.
The NUJ FRCN Headquarters Chapel prays that Almighty God grants his soul eternal rest and comforts his immediate family, colleagues, friends, and admirers across the world during this difficult time.
