The Nigeria Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS) has pledged to drive transformative innovations in the mining and geosciences sector.
The new NMGS President, Ms Rose Ndong, made this pledge on Tuesday in Abuja as she assumed office as the society’s 33rd President.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Ndong was elected during the 60th Annual International Conference and Exhibition (AICE) in February. Her tenure began on April 1.
“Our focus will be on transformative innovations, leveraging science, technology, and policy frameworks to unlock Nigeria’s mineral and energy potential.
“Together, we will build a resilient ecosystem that benefits both professionals and the nation,” she said.
According to her, NMGS remains committed to promoting sustainable practices across the mineral, energy, water, and infrastructure sectors.
She stated that the society would continue advocating for the rights and recognition of geoscientists and mining engineers in national development.
Ndong also emphasised NMGS’s commitment to fostering collaboration between industry, government, academia, and international partners.
She urged stakeholders and relevant organisations to support her in achieving her mandate
