We, The Voice of Plateau Youths (VOPY), stand united in calling for the immediate appointment of a Minister for Plateau State. It is a matter of grave concern that this state, a vital part of our nation, has been denied representation at the executive council for an unacceptable period since the Hon Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Simon Bako Lalong ascended to the Senate as a distinguished representative of the people of Southern Plateau.
Plateau State, with its rich cultural heritage and diverse population, deserves to have a voice at the highest levels of government. The absence of a Minister from this state is a glaring oversight that undermines the principles of equity and inclusivity upon which our democracy is founded.
Your Excellency, despite the religious acrimony in the 2023 elections,Plateau state delivered a whooping 307,195 votes to make you come second in the state and in turn make you win the popular votes to become President, we deserve a lot better.
We urge Your Excellency to rectify this injustice by appointing a qualified and dedicated individual to serve as Minister for Plateau State. Such an appointment would not only restore faith in our government but also provide a platform for the people of Plateau to contribute meaningfully to the development of our nation.
A Minister from Plateau State would ensure that the unique needs and aspirations of its citizens are adequately addressed and championed at the federal level. It would also strengthen the bond between the state and the federal government, fostering a sense of unity and belonging.
We believe that this is a matter of urgent importance that cannot be ignored. We implore Your Excellency to take swift action to appoint a Minister for Plateau State and demonstrate your commitment to good governance and the welfare of all Nigerians devoid of state,region,ethnicity, religion or class
