Foreign Minister, Sara Beysolow Nyanti, has recalled all diplomatic, official, and service Liberian passports.
Speaking to reporters on in Monrovia at the resumption of the MICAT regular press briefing, the Dean of the Liberian Cabinet, asserted that the mandate applies immediately from March 19, to April 18 2024 to all holders of such passports to return them at the foreign Ministry in Monrovia.
Madam Nyanti added that individuals possessing these passports are urged to promptly comply with either the legal department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the designated Technical Team led by Mr. Garrison Koikoi Jallah.
According to her, the decision to recall these passports underscores the government’s commitment to upholding national security, ensuring the integrity of travel documentation, and maintaining diplomatic protocols.
Meanwhile, the Liberian government urges all affected passport holders to adhere to the instructions provided and to cooperate fully with the designated authorities to facilitate a smooth and orderly recall process.
They added that failure to comply with this directive may result in legal consequences or disruptions to travel arrangements.
At the same time, the United States government has welcomed the decision through its embassy near Monrovia.
In a Facebook post via the US Embassy Monrovia page, it indicated that the Liberian foreign Minister’s commitment to address the issue of fraudulent travel documents advances not just Liberia’s national security but that of the international community and lauded Foreign Minister, Sara Beysolow Nyanti.
