World Radio Day: Kanwan Katsina Urges Govt. To Establish FM Radio Stations At Senatorial Districts

As the Katsina State Council of the NUJ celebrates the 2024 World Radio Day, the Kanwan Katsina District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara has called on the Katsina state Government to establish Fm Radio Stations across the Three Senatorial zones of Katsina, Daura and Funtua.

Alhaji Usman Bello made the call while delivering a goodwill message as the Royal father of the Day at the Celebrations organized by the Katsina State Council.

At the event which took place at the Council’s Secretariat in Katsina, the traditional ruler observed that establishing State owned FM Radio Stations will go a long way in not only generating revenue into government coffers, create employment opportunities but promote government policies and programs at the grassroots.

The Kanwan Katsina congratulated the Katsina State Council for joining the rest of the world to celebrate this year’s Radio Day with the theme “Radio and Democracy”.

Alhaji Usman Bello who is the Patron of the Union stressed the need for training and retraining of journalists in the state as well as the improvement of welfare to boost capacity and morale.

The traditional ruler used the occasion to laud the efforts of the Dikko Radda led administration for establishing the Katsina Watch Corps deployed to the seven frontline local government areas battling with insecurity.

He encouraged the government to consolidate on the gains and not to relent as it has been yielding positive results.

Highlights of the event included paper presentation by members of the academia on the importance of Radio and presentation of awards to some outstanding Radio personalities in the State.
