Advocacy Working Groups In Kaduna Train On Political Economy Analysis On Family Planning

A One – day training on Political Economy Analysis for advocacy working groups in Kaduna has been held.

The training was part of the advocacy project funded by the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA towards the cash backing of an approved Release for the purchase of FP commodities by the State government.

The advocacy working groups are led in the project by the Family Health Advocates in Nigeria Initiative, FHANI, which has carved a niche in Child Spacing advocacy activities.

Participants were trained on identifying every influential political office stakeholder with either low or high interest in family planning with a view to attaining results by convincing government to cash back the approved release without delay.

The trainer and Secretary of the Lead advocacy working group, FHANI, Mr. Benjamin Maigari told the participants that in the course of the advocacy, stakeholders be convinced that investing in family planning yields substantial economic savings.

This, therefore demands for increasing awareness, correcting misconceptions, improving funding, enhancing service quality and addressing data gaps that are challenges in program performance.

Enumerating the benefits of Child Spacing services, Mr. Maigari said they are crucial in preventing maternal infant and child deaths worldwide.and could avert a substantial portion of maternal deaths by reducing unintended pregnancies.

Furthermore, he said, child Spacing allied with Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs, addressing issues like poverty gender equality, HiV prevention and infant mortality.
