Nigeria: Jigawa Govt Vows To End Farmers- Herders Clashes

Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa state has inuagurated a 20 man Committee, 10-each from both parties with a charge to entrench peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding.

This is with a view to bringing to an end, the Guri lingering farmers and nomads clashes in the state.

“The Guri lingering communal disturbances is worrisome, hence govt resolves to mediate in putting measures to eliminate towards ensuring peaceful coexistence among our community”

According to the governor, government found it necessary to coordinate and collaborate with all the relevant security agencies and stake holders in achieving the desire objectives.

Namadi promised to revert all conflicting grazing reserves which for quite often termed as battle fields for Farmers/ nomads adding upon the eight grazing reserves, “we are having only six belonging to the state government, while the remaining two belong to the Federal government”.
