The award of Peace Ambassador confered on the Kanwan Katsina District Head of Ketare, Alhaj Usman Bello Kankara by the Katsina Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has continued to attract felicitations.
The latest comes from the Katsina State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, which described the award as well deserved, considering the role played by the monarch in building harmonious working relationship between the Nigeria Customs Service and members of its host communities across the state.
A statement signed by the council Chairman, Comrade Tukur Hassan Dan-Ali noted with delight that the
retired Customs officer had meritoriously served for 35 years during which he headed various strategic commands and indeed deployed his wealth of experience in guiding serving officers, enlightening the public on the need to cooperate with Customs officials.
“Kanwan Katsina also serves as a bridge builder between the NCS and members of the public.
“Similarly, Alhaji Uk Bello’s role in reactivating the Customs Consultative Forum is commendable, as the forum brings together all stakeholders to educate and enlighten them on Customs’ procedures and operations.
“These contributions further justify the monarch’s role as Patron of the Katsina Command of the Nigeria Customs Service.
“While urging him to continue to contribute his quota to nation building in this regard, we also commend the Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Customs Service for giving honour where it is due”, it concludes.
