North West Medical, Health Workers Union Of Nigeria, Best Performing Zone — President

The National President of Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Comrade Biobelemoye Joy Josiah has scored the leadership of North West of the union as the highest performing zone in the country.

He stated this on Saturday during the North West Zonal meeting of the union held at Kaduna Health Workers Union Lodge, Barnawa, Kaduna.

President of the Union, Comrade Biobelemoye Joy Josiah said he was proud of the developmental projects and investments initiated and commissioned by the zonal leaders of north west.

Some of the projects included guest house, plaza, hotel and mass transportation scheme to improve sources of funding.

The President called on the Head of Service in Kaduna State to see the labour union as partners in progress for cordial relationship between the workers and the government.

In his remark, the National Vice President North West Zone, Comrade Hussaini Hamisu explained that the aim of the meeting is to deliberate collectively on the challenges affecting the zone and how to address them.

He lamented that the zone is bedeviling with various challenges such as kidnapping, arm banditry, cattle rustling and serious economic hardship and called on the governments to address them.

In his welcome address, the State Chairman of Health Workers Union of Nigeria Kaduna State Council Comrade Ayuba Magaji Suleman said his council has successfully secured more than three hundred and fifty housing estates to his members through Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria.

He said the union also obtained four hundred and fifty seven million naira through Cooperative Housing Development Loan from Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria to build housing units for his members.

Comrade Ayuba Magaji Suleman said the union distributed three thousand units of home solar power machine as loan to the members.

He said some of the challenges of the union included the payment of irregular minimum salaries as minimum wage without consequential adjustment at the local government level, battered industrial relationship with the State Government which is a general concern to all trade unions in the state.

All the states in the zone had their representatives at the meeting.
