AMDF Announces 3 Finalists For 2021 Journalists Of The Year Award

The Africa Media Development Foundation, AMDF has announced its 2021 Journalist of the Year Award.
They are: Gwamkat Gwamzhi of Radio Nigeria Highland FM Jos; Justina Asishana of The Nations Newspapers; and Joseph Olaoluwa of Punch Newspapers.

An Honorary Lifetime Award for journalistic excellence will be presented to distinguish media veteran – Malam Ishaka Aliyu, the Principal Partner of Shaka Media Limited Abuja.; for his immeasurable contribution to promotion of development journalism in Nigeria.

The Board of AMDF will also use the occasion to present Courage in Journalism Award to Sikiru Obarayese of Daily Post Nigeria.
This Award is presented to Journalists who have demonstrated courage by going extra miles, among all odds to source stories.

A statement by the Executive Director, Mr. Iliya Kure quotes the Chairman of the Panel of Judges and Managing Editor, Africa Prime News, Mr. Joseph Edegbo as saying “after assessing all the entries, I can on behalf of the panel of Judges say the 3 finalists for the year award have professionally demonstrated skills in their stories by going deep in writing issue-based development stories.

“We encourage other journalists to emulate them and focus on issues that are of importance and affect the lives of people at the grass root,” he said.

“The award presentation where the winner, runner-up and commended work will be announced is scheduled to hold on 7th December 2021, during the 5th Africa Conference on Development Journalism (#ACDJ2021) holding via Zoom at 10am.
