Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has sought for enhanced partnership with the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), on disaster management in the nation’s capital.

Director General of the FCT Emergency Management Agency, Idris Abbas, stated the willingness of his agency in the partnership when he visited Director General of NEMA, Mustapha Habib Ahmed in Abuja on Friday.

Abbas said the aim of the visit was to congratulate the NEMA boss on his appointment and to solicit for stronger collaboration between the two agencies, to further improve disaster management in the FCT.

He specifically requested NEMA to include staff of FEMA in its specialized training programmes and disaster assessment.

Responding, Mr. Habib said the agency is prepared to work with FEMA and all other agencies of government, as well as the private sector, NGOs and individuals, to promote the resilience and sustainable development of the FCT, especially in capacity development, disaster, risk assessment, and vulnerability capacity assessment (VCA).
