For failing to fulfil electioneering campaign promises by politicians since the return of democracy in 1999, residents of a community in Kaduna have warned against bringing campaigns to their villages so as not to deceive them again.
The Chief of Unguwar Jatau in Igabi local government Area of Kaduna State, north western Nigeria said his subjects are tired of fake promises by Kaduna politicians, hence the need to tell them not to bring campaigns.
The community leader who was speaking with journalists who visited the village said, “Kaduna politicians have failed us, because they failed to fulfil their campaign promises as they did in 2015, we are tired of them”
According to the village head, they promised constructing good road, and providing them with other social amenities which could improved the life of the rural dwellers.
”Politicians do usually come to the village during their political campaigns and convinced us to vote for them, which we do, but they never come back to see us”
“Once they came into power, they never remember us till when another political campaign comes again”
“I am calling on Kaduna politicians not to come to our village again for any political campaign.
“we have decided to stop participating in any politic, because we benefit nothing from it, The God that created us will surely help us one day, he remarked.
The chef said there was nothing members of the community had not done to persuade both past and present state and local government officials to come to their aid, yet nothing has changed.
“Due to lack of health centre, our pregnant women prefer to giving birth in dry season than in rainy season to avert suffering due to lack of access road.
He said, the only politician that they could listen to in 2019 is Senator Shehu Sani, saying that he has done what no any politician in Nigeria had ever done to them – for his effort in the renovation of Health Clinic in their community.
He said apart from him, he added, they would not want to see any politician that would bring campaign to their community.
One of the residents, Mrs Jummai Gideon told journalists that since the return of democracy in 1999 in Nigeria, many politicians had been coming for campaigns , and they have been voting for them but never contributed any thing to their lives.
“As for next year general election,we don’t want to see any politician in our community,this is simply because they have done nothing to improve lives of women and children in the community, she said.
Jummai said lack of potable water, access road, skill acquisition programme for the youth and women in the village, are the major challenges facing the community
