Corruption: Don Tasks Nigerian Universities On Policies To Promote Integrity

As trainers of future leaders, Nigerian universities have been challenged to take a front role in the fight against corruption by entrenching policies that promote integrity within the system.

 Provost of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission Academy, Professor Sola Akirinade gave the charge at AlQalam University, Katsina, North West Nigeria to mark the institution’s anti corruption Day.
Professor Sola contended that “the fight against corruption requires leaders with high discipline, professionalism and high integrity, adding that as high institutions of high learning, the universities have a big role to play as trainers of future leaders.
He said to live up to expectations, there is need for stakeholders in the universities to evolve policies targeting all forms of corruptions within the system to promote discipline and integrity.
In a speech, the Vice Chancellor of AlQalam University, Professor Shehu Ado Garki, said in line with its commitment to entrenching discipline and integrity, the University has set up anti corruption and transparency Unit, adding that some lecturers in the institution have been sanctioned for corrupt practises.
