The Speaker Kaduna State House of Assembly, Northwest Nigeria, Aminu Shagali says the bills passed at the Assembly are geared towards improving good governance.

He  stated  this at  the commencement of the 4th Session of the fifth Assembly saying that some of the bills passed  would create  sound economic atmosphere in the state.

Shagali said it is indeed gratifying to note that to date the Kaduna State Legislature has passed 59 pieces of legislations, several resolutions and reports adding that 15 bills are still pending and to be passed into law when the assembly resumes fully.

“This is a laudable contribution to the development process geared towards making our dear State great again.”

“We take great pride that we have attained considerable achievements in strengthening the main pillars of making our dear state great.”

“Through Laws, we have enormously enhanced volume of investments, which have been rapidly emerging as a magnet for foreign direct investment.

“We are on the right track to improve agriculture and industry which are the most important factors for the development of majority of the population of the state living in rural and urban areas.”

Aminu on behalf of the  members, commended the clerk, and the entire management and staff of the Legislature for their unrelenting support towards what the Assembly had achieved so far.

“To members of the press, they have always been our partners in progress. Our success in the service of our people will never be complete without them, I urge them to continue to give all the required cooperation that will assist us in achieving success”. he said.

He also appreciates all the civil society organizations who have been partnering with the Assembly to attend to their needs whenever it is required.

The speaker assured that all the bills passed into law will be properly implemented and that all the committees will be monitored to carry out their oversight functions effectively.

Meanwhile, the bill for a law to prohibit all forms of violence including physical, psychological, sexual, domestic, harmful, traditional practice, discrimination against persons and to provide maximum protection and effective remedies for victims and punishment of offenders, 2018 has scaled its first reading.

A private member bill sponsored by Nuhu Goroh of Kagarko Constituency has been scheduled for second reading on 26th June, 2018.
