Police on Friday uncovered a plot to assassinate Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a letter seized from a suspected Naxal activist.
According to local media, the letter recovered by police reportedly from the home of Delhi-based activist Rona Wilson talks about Naxals mulling “another Rajiv Gandhi type incident” to end the Modi regime in India.
Wilson, a member of the Committee for Release of Political Prisoners, and four others were arrested on Wednesday for their links with the banned CPI-Maoist organisation.
The letter has been presented to a court and was released by a local news agency.
Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh told newsmen that security and safety of Prime Minister remained a topmost priority for everyone and his ministry was cautious about it. (Xinhua/NAN)
