Two soldiers have been reportedly killed on Wednesday in Zamfara while fighting armed bandits in a village in Anka local government area of the state.
The two soldiers according to a source said lost their lives in the fierce gun battle that ensued between the military men and bandits which resulted in the deaths of many of the armed bandits.
The Chairman of Anka local government Council, Alhaji Mustapha Gado who confirmed the death of the two soldiers said many bandits have been killed since the deployment of the military to the local government to quell the activities of the criminals in the area.
“Two soldiers have been killed, we have seen the bodies and l gathered that it was a captain and a lower ranking officer. I am also aware that with the recent deployment of security personnel especially the military, many of the insurgents have been killed,“ he said.
It will be recalled that governor Abdul’Aziz Yari Abubakar during a condolence visit to the Emir of Anka following armed bandits attacks in Bawar Daji Village which led to the death of about 30 people ordered security agencies to shoot at sight anybody caught with gun in the bushes of the state.
