Kaduna (Nigeria) – ZL Global Alliance (Nigeria) Limited, a waste management agency has commenced Integrated Waste Management project in Ondo State under a Concession Agreement with the State Government.
The project will be officially launched on the 21th February 2018 and to be followed by an Environmental Awareness Walk on the 22nd of February, 2018.
The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer , Dr. Abiola Bashorun disclosed.this in Akure, the Ondo state capital, South West of the country.
According to the Managing Director , under the Concession agreement between Ondo State Government and ZLGA, the Company has been authorized and mandated to be the sole entity to provide world standard Integrated Waste Management Services within the whole of Ondo State with emphasis on effective and efficient collection, transportation, treatment and disposal of solid waste, liquid waste, e-waste and medical waste.
“ZLGA is also mandated to collect waste revenue in Ondo State, manage resource conservation, fleets and equipment management, establishment of material recovery facility and plastic recycling facility” she stressed.
Accordingly she said, part of the activities lined up for the Official Launch will include Showcasing of the dumpsite and recycling plants to the Governor and his team.
The launch she further stressed, will also include an awareness/publicity walk to effectively sensitise the good people of Ondo State on the benefits of effective waste disposal and also to educate them on the new system of collection and payment of waste levies in the Ondo State.
“Additionally, these events would take place during the celebration of the One (1) year in office of the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu which is scheduled to take place from the 19th – 23rd of February 2018.
“It is therefore on the strength of this that ZLGA would also be showcasing the progress on our ongoing projects to the Governor, on the 21th of February, 2018.
“The Awareness/Publicity walk will involve waste management professionals from various parts of the country and also celebrities – Kemen (Ex- Big brother), DNA (Mavins), Reekado Banks (Mavins) and alot of other celebrities.
“While the Official launch/showcase of the Akure Dumpsite and Recycling plant will take place at Akure dumpsite, Igbatoro road by 9.00am, the Environmental Awareness walk will take place at the Akure Stadium same time on the 21 and 22 respectively.
“Also, we are embarking on fummigation of markets, hospitals among other public places to curb the spread of lasser fever and other diseases, starting from Owo with other areas to follow subsequently” she said.
