Kaduna (Nigeria) – Deputy speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, John Kwaturu has identified tourism as one of the major revenue earners and a tool for job creation in any nation.
Kwaturu stated this in an interview with Assembly Correspondents on Tuesday in Kaduna, northwest of the country while commenting on the Bill “Protection and Conservation of Cultural Heritage” which he sponsored and passed recently by the House.
According to him, today the world needs tourism to bring development, saying that Kaduna is blessed with a lot of monument and heritage that can be turned to a hub for tourists worldwide.
The bill which was a private member bill sponsored by the Deputy Speaker would help boost tourism in Kaduna state, which is blessed with Nok Terracotta, Kagoro hills and Lugard hall.
These sites, Deputy speaker stressed, could attract international tourists and investment into the state thereby boosting the revenue .
“It would also create job opportunities for the teaming youths of Kaduna state”.
“Inline with my electoral promises this is one of the giants achievements and fulfilment of electoral process.
He thanked his colleagues at the Assembly for their over whelming cooperation and understanding during the process of the study of the bill.
” I Appreciate the people of Kachia for given me the mandate to represent them at the assembly,” he said.
The deputy Speaker who said the bill is one out of his campaign promises, “I promise them that I will try and make good laws that would strengthen some of the values that will have in our local government and the state at large.
