Nigeria Joins International Community To Mark 2017 World Standards Day

Kaduna (Nigeria) — The Director General, Standard Organization of Nigeria, Osita Aboloma has asked Nigerians to join hands with the organization and other relevant agencies to optimize the benefits of standards in all facets of national life.
The Director General made the call in a message to mark the 2017 World Standard Day with a theme “Standards Make Cities Smart”.
He said smart cities must be provided with among others, sufficient fresh water, universal access to cleaner energy, ability to travel efficiently from one part to another and decent quality of life to the citizenry..
According to him, every city faces its own challenges and therefore requires its own  solutions. stressing that international standards remains one common denomination that greatly simplifies the task of building smart cities.
He reaffirmed that SON would continue to propagate the global standard in Nigeria  through adoption and adaptation for local use so as to attain best practices in all sectors.
Aboloma also pledged the Organization’s commitment to re-engineering its processes to enhance  delivery on its mandate to stakeholders in Nigeria.
The World Standard Day is being  jointly coordinated  by the International Organization for Standardization , International Electrotechnical Commission and the International  Telecommunications Union, ITU
