Kaduna (Nigeria) – The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, has directed the immediate deployment of 10,000 Personnel and redeployment of Acting Deputy Commandant General (DCG) Operations, Hillary Kelechi Madu, to Edo state to enhance the security level during the forthcoming state’s Gubernatorial Polls scheduled to hold on September 9, 2016.
The Acting DCG is to be assisted by two Assistant Commandant Generals in Charge of Zone G Benin and Zone E Owerri with other five Commandants drawn from the neighboring states; while the personnel are to be redeployed from Kogi, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa and Anambra state Commands.
A statement by the Civil Defence Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Okeh noted that, Gana also approved the deployment of sniffer dogs, Specialized Units such as the SWAT, CBRN, CTU, Undercover and Special Forces to protect Critical Infrastructures and National Assets situated in the state from been vandalized.
The Commandant General further warned personnel not to be found in any act of misconduct but work in synergy with other sister security agencies to ensure a peaceful conduct of election.
While admonishing Politicians in Edo not to take the election as a do or die affair, he said victory comes from God alone, as such, the Winner should accept it in humility while the Loser should accept it in magnanimity, noting that, there is always another time to achieve success.
“Election will come and go, but Edo state as a home of indigenes remains, therefore there is no need to fight and destroy what belongs to generations born and yet unborn,” he pointed out.
“Youths in the state should shun thuggery and all forms of vices that negate peaceful conduct of election. They should not allow themselves to be used by any person(s) to carry out any form of satanic act(s), as those demeaning politicians and their supporters can never bring their sons or daughters to carry out such dirty jobs,” he added.
