President Buhari Honors Justice Mamman Nasir, Architect Of Nigeria’s Judicial System

Kaduna (Nigeria) – Former President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Mamman Nasir has been honored as the architect of the Nigeria’s judicial system.

Justice Nasir was honored by President Mohammadu Buhari during the 1st Colloquium and public presentation of four books published in honor of the former Court of Appeal’s President and his attainment of the age of 87 on Thursday in Kaduna, North-west Nigeria.

The books are include; Northern Stars – Who is who in the North, Sustaining the Administration of Justice, Character and Leadership – The Nasir Example, and Threshold of Justice.

President Buhari who was represented by the Governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai said, what is seen today in terms of the judicial structures in Nigeria and its successful plan are handy work of Justice Nasir.

While thanking him for the impeccable services he had done to the judicial system and Nigeria as a whole, he felicitated with him and Nigeria’s elder statesman, Maitama Sule for attaining the age of 87.

Buhari also commended organizers of the event for recognizing those who served the nation very well. He said, “We have become a nation in which people that have money are worshipped and recognized more than those that have served with merit.

“I am therefore grateful to the organizers of this event and for writing four books in honour of justice Nasir honour because this is what we need as a country to begin to recognize those that served the nation well,” he noted.

He also promised that copies of the book will be purchase and made available in tertiary institutions for students to read and live an exemplary life of the Justice.

Guest speaker at the event, Nigerian elder statesman, Maitama Sule, said the history and virtues of Justice Nasir like that of late Sir Ahhmadu Bello could be instilled and used as solution to the problems faced by Nigeria.

“The history of Justice Nasir can be used as panacea to our ills and solution to myriads of challenges affecting the country.

“We could use the history of Nasir as instrument of change for the better; a vanguard for a revolution to bring a better Nigeria, especially by the current administration.”

Also speaking, Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, said Nigeria still needs more of Nair’s wisdom and Knowledge. He prayed for more strength for the elder statesmen.

While making his remarks, Justice Nasir called for unity among Nigerian, saying maintaining peace and unity of the nation is the responsibility of all.

He said, “It is left for us to unite and live as a nation and respect ourselves”.

He also called on leaders at all levels in the country to be honest and sincere while serving the country, stressing that no nation can succeed when the country’s treasury is looted by its leaders.
