Kaduna (Nigeria) – INEC Returning Officer in charge of Kaduna State, Northwest Nigeria, Professor Ja’afaru Makau Kaura has declared Nasir El-Rufai as winner of the last Governorship election in the State having obtained the highest votes and met the 25% requirement in 2/3 of the 23 local government areas of the State.
Kaura said of the total 1,660,109 votes, the APC candidate polled 1,117,635 votes to defeat Governor Ramalan Yero of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) who has 485,833 votes.
The votes of other parties were: APCN 281, ADC 676, APA 2621, APGA 20,140, Labour Party 2913, NCP 321, NNPP 170, PDC 923, PPA 966, PPN 95, SDP 123, UDP 187, and UPN 109.
Kauna added that total of registered voters in the state was 3,357,469 while total number of accredidated voters was 1,710,935. The total of rejected votes were 27,116.
Meanwhile, a total number of canceled polling units is 112 with a total number of 65,386 canceled votes.
