Nigeria: EFCC-CYIAC Opens Nationwide Creative Challenge to Promote Sustainable Development Goals

Kaduna (Nigeria) — The Creative Youth Initiative Against Corruption (CYIAC) in collaboration with Economics and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has begun a nationwide registration for the Creative contest to promote global goals.

The 2018 creative contest which has as its theme “IMAGINE A WORLD FREE FROM CORRUPTION” is to promote creativity, develop talent and build confidence whilst encouraging culture of integrity amongst children and youth.

All participants, under the programme, are provided with capabilities they require to become economically productive, develop sustainable livelihoods, contribute to peace, justice and strong institutions and take bold steps in creating the future they desire through creative thinking and innovation.

The contest is open to children and youth in Primary and Secondary
(public and private) schools, Tertiary Institutions and undergraduates
between ages 9 and 25 years.

Participants will be required to submit essays, short stories or creative ideas online, based on the theme “Imagine the World Free from Corruption”, this will be followed by virtual interview and screening exercise from January 27, 2018.

All entrants will follow the ‘CYIAC Five’ (Make, Create and Innovate)
approach; the stages includes Registration, Submission, Interview,
Project Development and Presentation of Creative Ideas.

The final showcase of creative ideas, innovation and products will be presented to local and International audience as contribution to achieving SDGs.

According to the Project Director, Foluke Michael, CYIAC participants will express their vision through the medium of Painting, Literary Arts, Music, Dance, Digital Communication, Entrepreneurship, sustainable housing, Innovation and Information Technology.

Our goal is to utilize the platform to build the world largest entrepreneurs, innovators and thinkers with integrity that will shape the horizon of Africa in 2030.

Foluke further stated that the project process is design to utilize digital communication from the opening to the final stage adding that the registration is strictly through CYIAC online platform.

Participants, She explained ,can either register through this website www.cyiac.com or download CYIAC App from Google Play Store for Android Users, links are provided on the website for other user.

She further stated that the word count must not be more thanan 500 words for ages between 9 to 14 years and 1000 words for ages
between 15 to 25 years.

Foluke said as part of 2017 project processes, CYIAC Corruption Buster (CCB) will be launched with movie premiere on December 9, 2017 to mark United Nations International Anti-Corruption Day, at the Filmhouse IMAX Cinema, Lekki, and that the event will be streamed online on CYIAC website and APP. CCB Innovation series derived from the poetry and painting interpretation of “My New Nigeria Free From Corruption” presented by EFCC-CYIAC 2016 Integrity Ambassadors.

Creative Youth Initiative Against Corruption , an initiative of Economic
and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was launched
by EFCC in October 2016, and commenced with a three month
intensive pilot scheme tagged: “My New Nigeria: Free From Corruption”.

The pilot scheme was supported by Consul General of Federal Republic of Germany and has also been endorsed by Women Arise for Change Initiative and Movement Against Corruption.
